Productivity: Outputs (1)

All our efforts towards productivity produce outputs.

…God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

The outputs of productivity include both material and non-material value. God neglected neither, but produced everything that was needed for human flourishing.

The material outputs of productivity include everything we need for our material wellbeing, including food, clothing, shelter, and transport, and so on.

The non-material outputs include everything we need for our emotional, intellectual and spiritual welfare.

Stephen Covey identified four key dimensions of human health and growth. He suggested that individuals and organisations are prone to putting emphasis on one or two of these four dimensions, and neglecting the others. However, all four are essential to our welfare.

When we’re thinking about the outcomes, we need to ensure that we’ve considered the full range of material and non-material outcomes that we desire.
